Growing up as an only child in a law enforcement family meant that the rules were always followed. Thus, my father always kept me “on the straight and narrow” when I was younger. Derived from Barnett Newman’s Onement VI, the deep blue hue of the sapphires are not only a reflection of the vivid colors seen in the painting, but also a tribute to the City of Chicago’s law enforcement colors.
